Project responsibilities included building and fire code analysis and ADA accessibility audits under the 2012 IBC and 2010 ADA for this existing, approximately 320,000 square-foot facility of classrooms, lecture halls, dining commons, library, planetarium, and gymnasium. Project resulted in a mitigation report to outline compliance steps needed to achieve full compliance with current codes and standards. This will allow proposed and future renovations and expansion projects to be done within a compliance baseline. The project was delivered on time and within the original budget.

lone mountain park – equestrian shade structure

Situated in Clark County, Nevada, this proposed 35,000 square-foot outdoor shade structure to cover an earth-surface equestrian court required automatic sprinklers per local 2012 IBC amendments. PCNA Group prepared an Alternate Methods and Materials request to justify omitting sprinklers for this non-combustible structure. The project was delivered on time, and at a substantial savings to the public.

The alternate allowed sprinklers to be omitted for the existing, adjacent senior center building. This project was delivered on time, and at substantial savings to the public.

Project responsibilities included compliance review of building, fire and life safety, accessibility, and egress design elements for approximately 20,000 square-foot, two-story addition to the existing building. The new uses included auditorium, film rooms, locker rooms, and coach/staff offices. The project was delivered on time and within the original budget.

CLARK COUNTY DETENTION CENTER – PHASE II RENOVATIONS

Project responsibilities included code, fire protection and life safety engineering, smoke control system design, preparation of smoke control system drawings, egress design, accessibility analysis for the multi-phased renovation of this existing, 12-story high-rise correctional facility project. Challenges included coordinating a complete renovation of all mechanical/smoke control systems while the facility remained partially occupied. This required us to facilitate absolute coordination among the entire design team, the City of Las Vegas Building and Fire Department, and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (facility operators). Project was delivered on time and within budget.

CLARK COUNTY REGIONAL JUSTICE CENTER –
SANITARY SEWER REPLACEMENTS AND ODOR MITIGATIONS

Project responsibilities included forensic investigations of the sanitary vent and drain systems within the facility to identify areas of significant corrosion, damage, and other issues that were contributing to dangerous gas odors within the facility. Solutions included replacements of portions of existing vent pipe stacks, and the addition of building traps to prevent municipal sanitary gas from entering into the building from the service locations. Project was delivered on time and significantly below original budget projections.
